Food Security Through

CalFresh Outreach

Many people in Humboldt County lack access to food, so Arcata House Partnership works with CalFresh (formerly Food Stamps) to provide a critical service to our clients by increasing food security. CalFresh is an assistance program that helps individuals and families buy healthy food. CalFresh dollars can be used at Farmer's Markets, Community Supported Agricultural farms, and grocery stores, which helps people to incorporate healthy foods like fruits and vegetables into their diets.

CalFresh Outreach is accomplished through the Lunch Box food truck, which delivers nutritious meals 5 days a week and provides information and engagement regarding CalFresh. Our case managers also work with clients to become enrolled in the CalFresh program.

Our Gleaner collects food and household goods from local grocery stores and food producers in Humboldt County, and delivers the food to family resource centers, individuals, and the food pantry at the Annex. Clients enrolled in Arcata House Partnership programs are eligible to utilize the gleaned food at the Annex pantry, and it is one of the ways we are able to provide healthy food to clients.
