While being housed, they stabilized as a family. The mother got a job, and they successfully paid off their debts, building their credit scores and working towards financial independence. Our Case Managers worked with the family to set goals and plan for their future. This April, they moved into their own place out of town and graduated from the PSH Program. They are clean, financially secure, and in the process of buying their first home.

It was easy to connect and figure out the details, and I was very relieved to have the support of the AHP staff with renting my house.  The tenant and I signed a standard rental agreement, including agreements about who would live in the house.  I always get a rent check in the mail, without fail, by the first of every month, but I also get so much more.  A case manager visits the tenant in the house each week and works with the tenant to help them be successful. 

In December 2020, Arcata Main Street selected Arcata House Partnership as their nonprofit of the month, recognizing the organization as a symbol of “hope.” Below are a few of the many stories that illustrate what hope can look like when support, stability, and compassion come together.
