Everyone Has a Place at the Table: AHP’s Annual Thanksgiving Community Meal

Thanksgiving is a time to come together, share a meal, and celebrate the connections that make our community special. Arcata House Partnership (AHP) is bringing our community together for a free Thanksgiving Day meal on Thursday, November 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As food insecurity continues to affect more of our neighbors, creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, included, and cared for is more important than ever. Whether you’re joining us with family, meeting up with neighbors, or simply looking for a warm meal and good company, everyone is welcome at our table.

Last year, our community came together to serve more than 400 meals, and we anticipate an even greater need this year. Making this event possible takes a tremendous community effort. We glean much of our food to help reduce local food waste, and generous donations and volunteer support help fill in the gaps.

Want to help make Thanksgiving special? We’re looking for volunteers, food donations, and turkey and ham donations! Homemade or store-bought pies, mashed potatoes, green beans, and other Thanksgiving favorites are all appreciated. We also welcome volunteers to help prepare and serve meals, with shifts beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting 1–3 hours.

We especially need whole turkeys and hams! If you’re interested in donating a turkey, please let us know whether you’re able to cook it at home and carve it for serving. We can provide cooking tins for those who would like to prepare their turkey at home.

This meal is about more than food. It’s about neighbors showing up for neighbors, sharing what we have, and making sure no one has to spend Thanksgiving alone.

Come share a meal, lend a hand, or help fill a plate. We’re grateful for every person who makes this community tradition possible, and we hope to see you on Thanksgiving Day!
